The Magic of Pycnogenol

In the last DAN conference, it was shocking to me that the CSF (Cerebral Spinal Fluid) from Autistic kids had 3 times more inflammatory indices than those of kids  with meningitis. It is a wonder that these poor Autistic kids can function at all. In addition to the inflammation of the brain, there is also inflammation in the gut lining etc. So one of the most important treatments in Autism is to give them good anti-inflammatories. In addiction to grape seed extract, I also use pine bark extract which has pycnogenol. Here is some interesting information on pycnogenol:

Study:

“The 1 mg/kg dose is what has been published in ADHD kids as improving attention, decreasing 8-OHDG (oxidative stress) and increasing glutathione.

Higher doses are anti-inflammatory as well”

I certainly have found that to be the case with my own patients.
